Pedigree Research

Pedigree Research is a real passion for me & can be very addictive especially when there are mysteries to be solved or when you look at photographs or articles of your own dogs ancestors & see a little piece of them in the dog sitting at your feet.

All my dogs have rich ancestoral histories & their pedigree's go back further than the 5 generations that you can see on their 'Pedigree' pages, both go back over 100 years where the information is available. There is always another mystery to be solved. If you would like more information on their histories please contact me for further information.

If you want to start your own pedigree research the best place is your five generation pedigree which can be purchased from the Kennel Club for a small fee. The five generation pedigree does not provide all the information on the individual dogs but its a great place to start. Magazines, the internet, forums, online pedigree research databases & the Kennel Clubs Breed Supplements / Stud Books are a fantastic source of information. Your breed club & the older members are also a fabulous source as many will remember the dogs in person & will be able to tell you about their characters, looks, habits & health problems.

For weimaraners there are several sources of online search facilities available:

A website owned by the I.W.R.R.S is a great forum for support but also has a very good UK based pedigree database.

An extensive database owned by Sylvia & Menno in Holland with assistance from several people around the globe this database is pulling together the complete Weimaraner history starting with its development in Weimar (Germany) & following the export of the breed to the rest of the globe.

If either of the databases are missing information please contact me & I will endeavour to fill in your gaps from my extensive library.

The Cocker Spaniel is not so well catered for with regard to databases although there are a couple available on the net. For UK based KC registered dogs please feel free to contact me & I will endeavour to provide you with information on your requested dog. Name, Date of Birth is the basic requirement to start research.
