Working Tests

Working Tests are a form of competition that is a progression from the basic gundog training using dummies. There are several different levels you can enter if your dog is KC registered and above 6 months of age. These competitions are great fun for both handler & canine companion, offer a chance to see other breeds & to meet like minded people all of whom share a passion for their dogs doing what the dogs do best.

Special Beginners - a class specifically for people who have not entered a Gundog Working Test before, the class comes with tuition from a trainer as well as being judged its a fantastic way to get an introduction to this sort of competing and a great deal of fun.

Puppy - Puppy Classes are aimed at puppies between the ages of 6 - 18 months of age the basic test consists of a seen retrieve, a blind, hunting & swimming all of which are more than achievable by a young puppy in training.

Novice - Novice is an age progression & the competition level offers similar tests to the puppy class only with some advance on the requirement for each section for an example the retrieving of a dummy maybe over an obstacle like a sheep pen or a ditch.

Open - Open unlike Novice or Puppy is not based on age but based on winning out of the Novice group at an earlier competition. The level of the dogs in this group are usually experienced & well trained with good handler & dog communication. On occassion live or dead game will be used in this group which is not easy to get into.
